Petit Bateau / Hong Kong partnership to target huge potential of china market

Petit Bateau and Fung Kids Limited, part of privately-owned Fung Retailing Limited in Hong Kong, have announced a distribution partnership to open retail stores in China for the Petit Bateau’s babies and children’s apparel brand.
Patrick Pergament, chief executive officer of Petit Bateau, said: “We are thrilled about this collaboration with an experienced retail partner who will open China’s doors to us. We are confident that Chinese mothers will quickly recognise the exceptional quality of our clothes for their children.”
Babies and children’s wear is a fast-growing segment in China’s market.
Pieter Schats, Executive Director of Fung Retailing Limited, which is part of the Fung Group, noted that the two partners had built reputations on the strength and values of family-owned companies, each with roots going back more than a century “Petit Bateau is an authentic, trusted brand and has special French touch about it. At the same time it has the right feel for the discriminating consumers of today’s China."
Petit Bateau’s first shops in China will open in 2015 in Beijing, Shanghai and Qingdao.
